Laminitis is a painful condition that affects many horses, leading to inflammation of the hoof's laminae. For horse owners, managing laminitis can be overwhelming, especially when traditional treatments fail to deliver satisfactory results. Thankfully, innovative solutions like Glushu are emerging to provide relief and support for affected horses. Thank you to the expert Farriers Huf-Reha Team for sharing how Glushu can significantly improve laminitis care.

From Huf-Reha Team

“This was the first horse that was presented to us on #podkovet. He was a 4 year old gelding that had toxic laminitis 6 weeks ago.

The immediate reaction was a cast with pad 1week , which then led to a 'laminitis shoe'. There were x-rays of the fresh shoeing 4 weeks ago.

The laminitis shoe was open at the toes, but had no load-bearing pad in the rear area. As we could see and feel from the recent x-rays, the right coffin bone had sunk into the capsule despite professional care from a clinic. No rotation. Nevertheless, laminitis causes lasting damage to the suspensory apparatus, and if the horse then moves too briskly, the coffin bone will sink!

In a case like this, stable rest and a maximum of a walk is recommended for the first few months. We fitted him with Glushu, with a net and a self-adhesive load-bearing pad. For us, gluing is the first choice for laminitis (no nailing), and a supporting cushion is essential to support the remaining load-bearing structures. The Glushu also offers shock absorption through the material combination of aluminum and rubber.

Quintos' owner was very enthusiastic; She said he ran so beautifully with the Glushu, she now had a completely new horse.”

The case of Quintos showcases Glushu's potential in redefining laminitis care. With its innovative design and supportive features, Glushu offers a compelling alternative to traditional hoof care methods.
