Farrier Report: Glushu Helps a Horse Recovering from Acute Laminitis

A horse coming back from acute laminitis needs every step to count. The first walks after a painful episode are not just about movement, they are about comfort, support, and protecting the hoof while damaged structures begin to recover.

That is why we were so pleased to hear from the expert farriers at Huf-Reha Team, who shared how they used Glushu as part of the recovery plan for one of their horses after a bout of acute laminitis.

We look forward to seeing their updates over the next few months as the horse continues healing.

From Huf-Reha Team:

“New Glushu shoes for one of our horses.

We're using Glushu with individual padding as our first fixed hoof protection.

When horses are allowed to start moving again after acute laminitis, or even go for walks, a supportive shoe provides enormous relief during the healing process. Here you can clearly see how much has grown back in that time. And growth also means that the structures are recovering. Of course, it's essential to ensure that the horse doesn't relapse.

Huf-Reha Team chose Glushu as the horse’s first fixed hoof protection during recovery. Their approach included individual padding, which allowed them to tailor support to the horse’s needs rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all setup.

Glushu can be useful where a fixed hoof protection option is wanted and where the farrier decides it suits the horse. As a glue-on style shoeing option, it may be considered in cases where nailing is not ideal or where the farrier wants to protect the hoof while applying support in a different way.

For horses recovering from laminitis, the potential benefits are practical:

✅ Support during controlled movement

✅ Protection for sensitive hooves

✅ Room for customised padding

✅ A fixed option fitted by a professional

✅ A way to help the horse stay more comfortable during rehabilitation
