Farrier Report: Glushu for Tender Soled Horses
A horse with tender soles does not need to be “a little footsore” for long before every step starts to matter. Thin sole, a stretched toe, and heels running forward can all change how the hoof loads. Left alone, that cycle can make the horse reluctant to move, harder to trim, and slower to recover healthy hoof shape.
Thank you to the expert farriers at Huf-Reha Team for sharing how they utilised Glushu to help a foot sore horse.
From Huf-Reha Team
“Hey all, just a quick report on a recent Glushu client.
Long toe, underrunning heels, thin sole > pain with every step. It's important to trim the hooves before shoeing so they are comfortable and have a chance to recover.
Here, GluShu is glued on with a wedge plate and pad.
Thanks to Olympia Farrier Supply and Glue-U Adhesives for sponsoring.
The hooves can now grow undisturbed, and by the next trimming, enough hoof will have grown back to shape them properly”

How GluShu fits this type of case
GluShu glue on horse shoes are completely non invasive. This can be helpful in cases where a farrier wants support without adding nail holes to a compromised hoof wall, or when the horse needs a package that can be built around comfort and protection.
In this case, the farriers used GluShu with a wedge plate and pad. Each part had a role in the overall plan.
The GluShu provided the base shoeing system. The wedge plate helped adjust the mechanics of the package based on what the hoof needed. The pad added protection for the thin, tender sole.
For horses with sore soles, padding can make a major difference in daily comfort. The goal is not to hide the problem. The goal is to protect the foot enough that the horse can move more comfortably while the hoof capsule grows and the farrier continues improving the shape over future cycles.
Glue-on applications also depend on preparation. The hoof must be clean, dry, and properly shaped for the adhesive to do its job. Product choice matters, but technique matters just as much.
